Metacognitive listening strategies

Listening in English is an active skill  that requires different tasks such as discriminating between sounds, interpreting stress, intonation and understanding specific information among others. Listeners use a variety of mental processes to give meaning to the information they listen to. These mental processes that listeners use to understand spoken English are described as listening comprehension strategies.

Then, to be better listeners we need to be smart and use metacognitive strategies.  In  this virtual learning environment you will receive guidance in three main metacognitive strategies called: "Planning", "Monitoring", and "Evaluating".

You will find how to use these strategies in each task in  this module.
